TIME AND PLACE
The 18th World Veteran Table Tennis Championships (WVC) will take place from May 23rd to 29th, 2016 in IFA (Institución Ferial Alicantina), Alicante/Elche, Spain.
ELIGIBILITY
The WVC is open to all interested players aged 40 years and over or who will reach their 40th birthday during the year the event takes place (born 1976 or earlier). This also includes participants who will reach the age of 40 during the course of the months after the event is scheduled (from June until December 2016).
EVENT CATEGORIES
The following categories will form part of the championships:
- 40 - 49 years (Born 1976 or before)
- 50 - 59 years (Born 1966 or before)
- 60 - 64 years (Born 1956 or before)
- 65 - 69 years (Born 1951 or before)
- 70 - 74 years (Born 1946 or before)
- 75 - 79 years (Born 1941 or before)
- 80 - 84 years (Born 1936 or before)
- 85 - 89 years (Born 1931 or before)
- Over 90 years (Born 1926 or before)
Each player has to participate in his own event category. Exceptions will be made for doubles pairs, where players do not belong to the same event category. In such cases, the pair will participate in the event category of the youngest player.

PLAYING SYSTEM
Information about the playing system is to be found in the rules and regulations of the World Veterans Table Tennis Championships. In principle, the rules of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) apply.
MAXIMUM NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS
A maximum number of 4,000 players will be allowed to participate in the WVC 2016 to be held in Alicante/Elche . Registration of players will only take place upon receipt of the full entry fee payment. Adjudication of entry place will be handled on a ³first come, first served² basis. Registrations received above this number will be put on a waiting list, by order of date of entry received. Vacancies will be filled with names from the waiting list; those moving up will receive an invoice and the entry fee is due immediately. The amount of the entry fee is determined by the date registration is received.
ACCREDITATION
Accreditation for participants and their accompanying persons takes place at IFA (desk location to be confirmed):
Sunday, May 22nd, 2014 from 10 am to 6 pm
Monday, May 23th, 2014 from 10 am to 6 pm
Tuesday, May 24th, 2014 from 8.00 am to noon accreditation for doubles
Each participant has to come to accreditation at least 1 hour before their age group starts to confirm his/her sports entry and to collect his/her tournament documents. When collecting the tournament documents the participant has to provide his/her confirmation of participation containing the individual personal registration number. All participants who have not received their accreditation according to above mentioned time table will be cancelled and cannot play in the tournament.
Players who have registered through a group will receive their accreditation only through the group leader, not individually.
The accreditation of accompanying persons only takes place together with the accreditation of the participant entered for the tournament.
All players are requested to come to the accreditation centre as early as possible.
ACCREDITATION PASS
The accreditation pass authorises the access to all venues. Each participant has to carry visibly at all time on site and in the venue his/her personal accreditation and present it upon demand by security personnel.
Abuse of personal accreditation passes (giving it to third parties) will lead to withdrawal of the accreditation pass (i.e. there will be no further access to the venue possible).
The loss of the accreditation pass will be charged with a fee.
INFORMATION DESK
At the information desk you can obtain information regarding sightseeing in and around Alicante, Elche and Costa Blanca. If you have questions about transport the information desk will be ready to help you. Questions concerning your hotel booking will be answered by the hotel itself.
The information desk will be open daily from 8 am to 9 pm, except on the rest day when the opening hours will be from 10 am until 4 pm.
A dedicated part of the Information Desk will handle tournament matters.

CATERING
All participants can look forward to a wide variety of food offerings.
CENTRE COURT/ACCESS
Due to the high number of tables, only players who have to play are allowed to go into the centre court area.
CHANGING FACILITIES
Changing rooms for players are located on the IFA ground floor. We suggest all participants get changed into their playing outfits before coming to the venue, as the number of changing rooms available is limited. Please do not leave any valuables in the changing rooms.
DOUBLES EVENT
Draw for doubles will be made Tuesday 24th May, 2014 after 12 noon. Groups will be published as soon as possible after the draw is made.
ENTRY TICKETS
Daily tickets for spectators can be purchased upon arrival.
EQUIPMENT

FIRST AID/MEDICAL DUTY
First aid personnel will be permanently in the first aid room throughout event.
FREE DAY
Thursday (26th May 2014) is scheduled as a free day to allow social activities and sightseeing. Practice tables will be available.
The RFETM Hall of Fame Induction dinner will be held in the evening.
HALL OPENING TIMES
The hall will be opened 1 hour prior to the scheduled beginning of the first matches. Access is only possible through the main entrance at IFA.
LOCATION OF COMPETITION

PARKING SPACES
Parking will be available in IFA parkings and the carparks, subject to pre-approval from the tournament organisers.
PLAYER NUMBERS
It is mandatory for all participants to wear their player number (inclusive of the advertising printed thereon) made available by the organizers. Number and advertising must be clearly visible.
PRACTICE
Training is possible on Sunday May 22nd. 2014 between 10am and 6pm, and on Monday, May 23rd 2016 between 10am and 5pm. IFA will be closed for training before the Opening ceremony.
PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION
Full advice of official transportation options will be made once routes and timings are confirmed. Public transportation options will also be publicised prior to the closure of registrations.
RESULTS
Results for participants and spectators will be displayed inside the venue as well as live on this website. Results/result lists can be downloaded for free from the WVC2016.com website after the WVC is over.
SECURITY SERVICES
Security service officers will be present throughout the event. They have been given the task of supervise access control. Orders given by security officers must be followed. Please carry your accreditation passes at all times.
