Hosting an event as important as the World Veteran Table Tennis Championship at the magnificent facilities of the Alicante Exhibition Centre, is a great honour for Elche, that becomes in 2016 an international reference for this sport discipline and the meeting point for world fans attracted by the obvious interest in this competition.
The celebration in Elche and Alicante of such an extraordinarily important event has been possible thanks to the strong commitment of the Spanish Table Tennis Federation, whom I want to thank for the good management, a well done job that will allow participants at the World Championships know the undoubted attractions of this area.
I want to wish each of the participants in the Championship and your companions a very pleasant stay in Elche. I hope that during these days, you have the opportunity of learning more about the attractions of our municipality and our city, and of noticing why we are one of the few Spanish cities with two World Heritage Sites, enjoying our Shopping Outlet Route, our weather, our beaches and our unique culinary tradition.
Elche and its inhabitants want to give you a warm welcome and we would be delighted to welcome you on future occasions.
